Its is clear that civilians and veterans have different views on the war. Of course, veterans would support a person pursing a military career and civilians would probably not. As a civilian, we do not see all aspects of the war. Although veterans are able to say that they literally fought for their country overseas, it comes with its downs. The most apparent being post traumatic stress. "More than one-third of those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan say they've suffered from post-traumatic stress, whether or not they were diagnosed." (Taylor). Adjusting from life as a soldier and back to reality is a process. Being overseas and witnessing things these soldiers see, does not make it easy for them to come back and be able to lead a completely normal life. When soldiers return from their deployment, some are taught how to deal with their problems at their bases."There's a very heavy psychological and emotional component here," Taylor says. "They've had strains in their family life, frequent outbursts of irritability."(Taylor). Soldiers are not able to control their emotions because of the things that happened to them throughout their course of deployment. Everything these soldiers go through is to show their love for their country. Without them, who knows what our country would be like.
